Walking with lions – would you ever have thought it possible to stroll through the African bush with a free-roaming lion at your side? At Antelope Park this can become reality as you take lions out ‘for a walk’ No collars, no leashes, no fences – you truly will be walking with the King of Beasts.

A walk will last around one and half hours and the lion cubs accompanying you on this incredible journey range in age from 6 to 18 months. You might even be lucky enough to witness them practicing their stalking and hunting skills or maybe even making a kill

You won’t want to miss out on this once-in-a lifetime opportunity as you roam free with the lions, interact with them and get closer than you ever thought possible, all under the supervision of our experienced guides and handlers.

But your Lion Walk is much more than you think. It‘s not just a very privileged photo opportunity, it‘s the chance for you to become a conservationist.

Antelope Park is home to ALERT and the African Lion Rehabilitation and Release into the Wild programme. Please go to www.lionalert.org and www.africanencounter.org for more information on how you’ll be making a positive impact on the future of the African Lion!

Please Note: Lion walks are subject to age and height restrictions.

You can also get involved in other ways with the lions:
Lion Cub Viewing
Help feed, play and interact with our lion cubs. Energetic, feisty and ready to pounce with tiny paws; this is an exciting and highly enjoyable experience never to forget.

ALERT Educational Tour/Lion Breeding Programme Tour
We are privileged to be home of the African Lion and Environmental Research Trust (ALERT) one of the world’s leading conservation programmes to help save the African lion from extinction and we would love to share with you the positive steps and successes of this Trust.

An insightful 45-minute tour of the lion breeding centre is a great way for any guest to gain a better understanding of what we are trying to achieve with these majestic creatures.

Lion Feeding
The magnificent roars, fixated eyes and licking of lips are just metres away from you! Watch as the lions prepare to run towards their feed; the ground vibrates in the rush. Swaying golden manes, several pouncing lions and the blood of the pray is right before your eyes in this dusty, energetic and most awesome scene never to forget.

This is a vital part of our research towards the lion’s characters and dominance. It also aids the lions’ survival skills for their eventual release back into the wild.
