Bunga Forest

Nestled in the Vumba Mountains the Bunga Forest is a protected National Botanical Reserve. The forest is lush, covered in ferns, mosses and orchids and its moist, cool environment is wonderful for walking and exploring. The Bvumba or Vumba Mountains are part of the Eastern Highlands in Zimbabwe bordering Mozambique and they rise to 1911m. Bvumba is the Shona name for “mist” which often shrouds them in the mornings. Nestled in the Vumba Mountains the Bunga Forest is a protected National Botanical Reserve. The forest is lush, covered in ferns, mosses and orchids and its moist, cool environment is wonderful for walking and exploring. In the centre of the mountains lie the Bunga Forest Botanical Reserve and Bvumba Botanical Garden, renowned for their cycads.

Enjoy a Sun-Downer, accompanied by canapés from the raised platform in the Game reserve with animals feeding below against the stunning backdrop of the Baby Himalayas.

 

Castle Tour & Sundowner. 16:00 till dark

Explore Leopard Rock’s distinguished Castle, built in 1946 by Italian prisoners of war. The Castle balcony is perfect for a sundowner set against a back drop of awe-inspiring views of The Burma Valley, Mozambique and Leopard Rock.

 

Guided Game Walk. 1:30 or 14:30

The family friendly game reserve allows you to interact with a host of species, and the excellent guides will share their wealth of knowledge of the Animals likely to be seen, such as Impala, Zebra, Kudu, Nyala, Eland, Giraffe, Bushbuck, Wildebeest, the rare Blue Duiker and Samango Monkeys

Enchanted Forest Walk. 09:00

The resident guides will take you on a walk up into the Enchanted Forest. They possess a wealth of knowledge on the Forest’s flora and fauna as well as local folklore. Occasionally, the elusive leopard can be seen, a rare but magnificent treat!

 

Birding

Hundreds of species of birds can be seen in the Bvumba, which is regarded as something of a bird lover’s paradise. Many rare and endemic species can be identified while walking through the Game reserve or Enchanted forest.

 

Horse Riding

Whether it’s a Horseback Safari through the game park, a gallop across the Golf Course fairways, a leisurely stroll along the Bvumba Mountain paths or perhaps a Pony trek for the Kids, we can organize horse riding for groups and individuals.
